Is it possible to be in love with a city?
this week i've had a blast just catching random buses and exploring where ever i end up...
though i always seem to find myself back somewhere near the castle (slightly obsesed one might believe!)
i just love wandering along the Princes street (the main street), with the view of edinburgh castle to the left, the scots monument to the front and the lovely view of arthurs seat in the distance.. (i'm going to climb it the next sunny/pleasant day!)
theres been times where i've felt the need to pinch myself to make sure i'm really here
works been interesting...
still having issues with one of the others...
i know i've never used the scanner they've got, but i know generally what needs to be done. But when she's around... it seems nothing i can do will meet her expectations ... i should mention that she's an aussie, with the same years experience as me... though she did train at newcastle (maybe that's the real issue!) but she treats me like i'm a piece of gum stuck to her shoe...
i got to the stage where i was trying to convince myself that crying would only make things worse! then mocking myself for even letting her get to me... (i was having an emotional sort of day anyways)
but i was ready to walk out..
maybe it gets to me that theres Sandra here who started here who's on been borrowed from the main xray department for 3 months, who's brand new to ct, who they talk her through everything, and what they do for various examinations., where as i'm just meant to know how they work without them telling me anything.... and i think the one that dislikes me told sandra not to listen to anything i tell her.
cause it'll just be me and her there and she'll want to know how to do something, and i go to explain it to her, and she turns away and find someone else to ask...
that's the one thing i'm beginning to dislike about agency work in ct... every department has different protocols, and ways of doing everything... and completely different machines... and you're an outsider... i love to be in the know... none of this having no idea how things work etc, i like to know everyone, what to do, and how things work...
this department is pretty young too, which is a good thing but it's very much a tight knit group... which at this present stage seems impossible to break into.
plain xrays are fine, who just aim and shoot, and wow you get an xray!
oh well, we'll see how the next few weeks pan out...
Anyways, this morning brough about a delectable sunny day so I headed over to Roslin, a small village about 10 miles from Edinburgh. where i went in search of Rosslyn Chapel made famous of course by the recent award winning novel by Dan Brown (The Davinci Code) and also Rosslyn Castle.
it was rather easy to find, the bus stopped in the main street and we just followed the signs down to the chapel itself...
The chapel -- also known as St. Matthew's Collegiate Church -- was originally a Catholic Church. Today it is a working Episcopalian Church, wrapped in scaffolding to protect the roof from the elements. it was closing early today for someones wedding rehersal (how cool would it to be married here, or in a castle...)
This is where Langdon and Neveu uncover the truth of the Holy Grail. Dan Brown writes in Chapter 104: "The chapel’s geographic coordinates fall precisely on the north-south meridian that runs through Glastonbury. This longitudinal Rose Line is the traditional marker of King Arthur’s Isle of Avalon and is considered the central pillar of Britain’s sacred geometry. It is from this hallowed Rose Line that Rosslyn – originally spelled Roslin—takes its name."
despite the scaffolding, it was still amazing to look at, though the true treasure was the inside.
like all 15th century churches all the carvings were made of stone...
here's a carving of an angel playing the bagpipes
it always amazes me how much detail they go into, the pictures speak for themselves.
This little guy was just so ugly he was cute!
After spending awhile looking around the chaple i headed down to see the castle ruins... down the winding path, through little arches of shrubery, past ancient graveyards.. and as we rounded the corner there it was..
All that remained of the castle!
Impressive aye!
wandered around what was left of the walls and just enjoyed the peacefulness of the area
