i haven't been so glad that it was friday for a long time...
While i love the city, work has been interesting..
i still feel like a complete ousider here... it's like they're all one big happy family and i'm the step daughter or something...
i know i'm the locum, and i'm only there for a few weeks...
the majority of are nice, but it's one of those departments where they help each other, and not me it seems..
maybe it's just my imagination...
but i seem to be doing a fair amount of the work...
i'll get the patient in, scan them, disconnect them from the injection, bring them out of the scanner, take them back to get changed/to the waiting room, an then come back and post process everything, and print films... all while they (some 3/4of them) sit around chatting...
and then get order to go do something else...
i don't mind doing it... it's my job... i get that... but they don't come and help even if i need something...
yet if it was one of them, they'd be in there doing it all together...
and it's not like i don't help them...
ahhhh they're driving me mental i tell you mental!
i honestly would love to work here full time (if only the staff were civil!). it's got a perfect mix of trauma, ortho, neuro, and would give me so much experience... maybe if i became one of them i'd be in the "in croud!"
the days go so fast considering we only get a break for lunch (none of this morning tea and afternoon tea we saw over in glasgow!) it a surprise to look at your watch and a few hours have past... it's just constanly go go go, with always patients waiting...
i love that kind of atmosphere...
i actually come home mentally drained, which hasn't happened in a long while, and i love that i am learning new things here...
Still running into problems with T, but i made a comment to the boss and i think she had a word to her about it... lol so i'm not her favourite person anymore (not that i ever was...)
it's a relief to know that i get 2 whole days of freedom...
i was mean yesterday, and made a patient cry...
you know when you just get to that stage where you're over being overly nice... well i got there,...
this lady was a good 160kgs... and couldn't get up off the bed...
she asked for help and i did the propper thing the i learnt in manual handling, you act as a brace and get them to lever themselves off the bed...
she said she felt a little dizzy so i waited for her to feel well enough to get up...
in my mind i was thinking hurry up hurry up, there's 6 patients waiting and only 30mins to do them...
eventually she got up and i set off leading her back to the changing rooms...
i got to them and turned to say goodbye, and she was gone...
i looked around, and couldn't see her.... i asked the other patient waiting where she'd gone... and she pointed to the other door that lead to the front...
so she made her own way out, so i jsut went on with the next patient... next thing the receptionist comes out saying the lady left in tears because of the mean radiographer, that wouldn't help her get up, and then couldn't wait for her to leave...
i felt and still feel guilty, despite not doing anything wrong...
but spent the rest of the afternoon being overly nice to patients...
i'm always nice to patients... i act like a fool a lot of the time, making random chit chat, as per usual! and most of them think i'm amusing...
people just bug me!
hahaha what a whinger i am!
no idea what i have planned for the weekend as yet.... though looking at the forcast says it's going to be lovely and sunny (NOT) nah it's meant to rain rain and rain, with a top of 12 degrees! so nice and toasty there...
still haven't made it to the free tour.... might do that if it's not pouring, or head to a museum, i think they have a questacon (?sp) type museum here too, that i might be able to convince people to come to with me... or the zoo, where they have free run penguins that just wander all about the place! then sunday am contemplating a bus trip to stirling to see the castle and over to loch lomond... though i don't want to go if the weathers dismal...
(pictures won't be as pretty!)
but i'm sure i'll find something to keep me amused...
might even head down liverpool way to see Y, but the buggers meant to be working all weekend... so unless i want to spend all weekend at the hospital too... i just don't know!
hope everyone else has a great weekend
