i've been in the lovely city of preston for about 2 weeks now, and i've still yet to unpack...
so i'm starting to think it might be time for a clean out.. cause i obviously don't use half of the things i own!
it's so true when they say that when you travel you wear the same clothes all the time..
i have one shirt from my original that i brought over, and as things have either worn out or gotten lost i've replaced them as i've moved around...
i have two lots of work shoes... (cause i got stuck with no shoes at one stage and had to buy an emergency pair. then found the others... so the plan is to dispose of one pair and keep the others..
one pair of trusty joggers/sandshoes, that have definitely seen better days, that i'll say goodbye too after nz and get a fresh pair for new adventures..
my trusty haviana's... i look after them with my life, and try and wear them all the time, despite my poor toes freezing...
my scarf i picked up in venice almost a year ago has survived... and is out ready for the winter cold...
i just need to do a major culling effort on the clothes before i head home..
i plan to leave some things over here, so i don't have to cart them all over the world (literally)
but then if i leave them here, will i just bring more over when i do come back... most likely!
the joys of living from a backpack... especially when you're a horder of all things imaginable..
i got a message the other day from my cousin back home who's decided that she wants to come to new zealand with me... totally out of the blue
so it's looking as if i might have a travel companion..
I'm in two minds about the whole thing, it'll be nice to have a travel companion, but i was looking forward to hitting up NZ on my own...
it'll be an interesting experience i think, the two of us have not really spent a lot of time with each other over the last few years, both leading busy lives, and just generally catching up at the family events, ie christmas, easter, the occasional birthday, mothers day and also father day...
so not spending a lot of quality time together... so i'm thinking a few weeks traveling around in a kiwi infested country will bring out some amusing stories, as long as we survive it and each other..
we're totally opposites... it's going to be hilarious..
she's all for organisation, i'm all for living in the moment lately and just going where the wind takes me.. (so good that i might be all organised for a change...)
she's never stayed in a hostel (it's classy hotels all the way for her!) i've pretty much lived in hostels for the last year... and am now just amused by them, trying to convince her that they're not all bad... and that she won't get mugged in her sleep... hahaha
so it'll be interesting
though not sure how i'm going to explain how i know some of you, or how you all know so much more about me and my life over here, than my actual family...
maybe i'll have to clue her in on a few of the stories, otherwise i might get caught short... !
but the travel plans are all back on the drawing board, until she decideds if she's coming or if she's not...
cause i've pretty much planned everything, i was about to book it this weekend...
now i feel slightly guilty if she comes and just follows me about the countryside just because that's what i wanted to go do...
so i've given her all my info, and told her to have look, and see if there's anywhere or anythings that she really wants to do, and we'll go from there...
so definite dates coming to your inbox soon
Off to egypt on thursday... totally not prepared... but i'm sure that doesn't surprise any of you!
got my fingers crossed that they'll let me into the country, and have booked myself into a hostel for a bargin price of $6 AUS a night initially... lol bargin... (though i'm thinking you get what you pay for...)
and there's going to be some random person at the airport with a sign with my name on it to pick me up and take me there.....
thinking it could be extremely interesting...
nothing like getting into a car, with a stranger, who probably won't speak my language, and driving off into the sunset into a foreign country..
wish me luck with that adventure...
i've never had a problem over here just flying into a random country and just wandering around...
though supposedly it's not a safe place to just wander about and people watch over in egypt, espeically for females on their own... but who am i to let that little fact get in my way...
i have friday to amuse myself, going to book myself on a tour to the pyramids, and the like... before tash and james arrive at 7am on saturday....
their tour finishes at lunchtime... so hopefully we'll work out a way to meet up for an adventure or two... but considering i haven't heard from them in the last 2 weeks, i'm thinking that there's not much in the way of internet connections and mobile receptions in the middle of the dessert where they are now!
so if i don't find them in the midst of tourists in the egyptian museum on the saturday, i guess i'll just have to meet them at the hotel...
it's going to be slightly interesting...
my last jaunt before heading home for xmas...
i'm getting a bit more excited about heading home, i think i've annoyed everyone at work with all my talk.. especially this week...
and i've been getting some amusing emails, and calls from friends who sound excited that i'm coming back... my days and nights are going to be busy and fun...
i'll need a holiday to get over my holiday...
oh an preston has decided to let me stay on here as long as i like until xmas... which is really nice of them, so at least i know i don't have to move about much in the coming weeks, and that i can go whenever i want...
thinking that since i leave on the friday before christmas that i'll just finish up the week before and have a week of fun, and random things before heading home...
i've been going well with the saving here in preston, i've become addicted to prison break now that i've finished ER... and how good does Wentworth Miller look, especially in the bare chested scenes! Drool!... so that's keeping me amused on the evenings i don't have company..
(and i'm finally understand it all, last time i started watching it from about half way in, and had no idea about anyone...)
we're going to have a cooking day and make an amusing gingerbread house, well it's going to end up being a Dr who blue phone box... which has a special name, that i've forgotten for the moment! but it's going to be BLUE!
bring on the next month i say...

All your adventures sound amazing. I'm interested in making a ginger bread house too.
Good luck in Egypt and stay safe. You could just make sure your cousin is kind of flexible, a kind of meet up when it'll work and do own thing sometimes too. She could also just come and do a part of it, not all. especially if she wants to keep the whole trip to a schedule, you could just do parts of her schedule and flounce around for the rest.
I'm going to be doing my first trip on my own when I go to England in January, not sure what I'll do yet but so far I'll be just going to my friends place in Cambridge and then go from there.
We just got back from the west so I'll blog about that all later.
lol, i had a missed call from u at about 1am your time sunday morning, I bet u were drunk!!!
knowing what i know now, man i would travel so much lighter than I did!
I am sooooooo sorry I kept missing your calls. I was at a hens day, a massive wine festival. hmmmmm ooops.
YAY I hope you have finally finished all those travel plans. I can't wait!
