Up early this morning and since no one else was up, head out for one last wander in the mall.
strange being up about wandering around when no one else was around and no shops were open
headed to breakfast one last time
where this japanese man was complaining that there were no banana's left, and the waitress was telling him that it was because his group had eaten them all already, got to love the japanese and their love of free fruit..
Checked out, and palmed off our tickets to the adventure park, to a family with a bundle of kids (shame we ran out of time going there)
before packing up the car and setting off for the Dinosaur country!
Have to say it was the most boring scenery on the way, fields and fields as far as the eye could see, at one point we drove though a patch of snow, the highlight of the trip!
Arrived into Drumheller around 4pm and ended up staying at the Travlodge due to it's proximity to the dinosaur museum
one thing that stands out is the number of dinosaur statues around, all painted bright horrific colours
Stopped at the information center to see what there was to see, and were issued with a map of the area.
headed south to see the Hoodoo's
described in the brochure as "geological wonders that have stood watch at the mouth of willow creek for thousands of years. The majesty and fortitude of these mushroom shaped giants has made them a symbol of Alberta and the harsh beautiful badlands."
our response when we got there "do you think that's it!?!"
They definitley look impressive in the picutures, but in real life it was like there just a few rocks...
but it was nice to get out and wander all over them...

next stop was at the star mine suspension bridge, a little further down the way..
The bridge was built back in 1958 crosses over the red deer river, and once served as a way of transporting coal from the mines across the river.
enjoyed bouncing the bridge from side to side, Mary was a little less than impressed, and made it quickly over to the other side!
Aileen brought out the jelly she'd picked up at the British shop, and low and behold it was jelly in squares, we all had some, I managed to captured Mary's reaction perfectly!
cant beat it, she was like, can I eat it? How do I eat it...?
headed back across the bridge with Mary in the lead, she wanted to get across quickly, only for her to stop suddenly and decide that she wants a picture in the middle! :O)
Decided to call it a day and headed back towards town
Found a Walmart that was still opened so headed in to check out what they had to offer!
all sorts it seems!
we should all have walmarts
Headed back to the travelodge and decided on the Greek Restraunt opposite for dinner... had kebabs of some sort, before heading to Dairyqueen for icecream then back to the travelodge for some bad TV before calling it a night.
10th May
First port of call after checking out and loading up the car was at Whiffs (Waffles, Hamburgers, Icecream,Flapjacks and Salads) Reccommended as the best place in town to get breakfast.
It was packed, and delicious... had an omlette with pancakes, interesting combination, but delicious all the same.
Headed down the road to the Tyrell Dinosaur museum which was fantastic, and If you ever get a chance go!
We all know I have a thing for bones, it's my job. I've also always had a fasination with dinosaurs.
There were about 37 full dinosaur skeleton on display ranging from:
stegasaurus,
to T-rex, 
to triceritops, and the Albertasaurus.
It was a great museum, aimed at kids and adults alike..
I'm a toucher, I like to touch and feel things, and they gave you the chance to touch some of the bones and things.
I loved it
after we'd gotten our dinosaur fix, we headed down the road and stopped at little church.
Holds 10,000 says the sign, only 6 at a time though
had a few holy moment inside
before heading to marvel at the views at Horse theif canyon.
where we stalked ground squirilles, and took many a picture, where every picture was a keeper.
carried on and took the little ferry across the red deer river before heading back to town on the other side of the river..
This area definitely offerered some different views, you can definitely let your mind wonder with the thoughts of dinosaurs walking around here millions of years ago.
I loved it almost as much as the snow capped mountains of the Rockies.
After a late lunch we set off to Calgary, where we stayed with a gorgeous Italian family (the sister of Trish's boss) who took us into her home and looked after us like we were family.
Had home made pizza for dinner with salad, yum
before being taken to Dairyqueen for icecreams... yum again
Went and hired Enchanted I so love that movie!
