The Grand National

well today i got to witness that UK's version of the melbourne cup...

and i haven't laughed so hard in years!

The Grand National is one of the most famous steeplechases in the world. yet it looked so unorganised... maybe i'm used to the whole propper barriers and a slightly organised line up... here there were 40 or so horses and jockey's mulling around at what seemed to be the starting point... then they ran out an elastic piece of tape, and they all of a sudden ran forward...

eventually they all managed to get in a line and the race was on... not really knowing it was a steeplechase before hand... i was amused to find them all jumping over fences... picture 40 horses all jumping at the same time. there was bits of fence flying every which way...

sad for the horses so many fell, and the jockeys went flying...

amusing though that having the jockeys fly off didn't stop some horses with them continuing on and jumping the remaining fences and actually finishing the race.... hahahaha one jockeyless horse managed to com 5th... but doesn't count cause he lost his jockey! hahaha

one horse was particulary funny... it came running up to the fence than half jumped it... but just stopped standing on top! hahahahah

in the end i think only 10 horses actually finished...

surprised no one got killed... there were bodies and horses flying everywhere!

my horse number 33 (THE OUTLIER) came a cropper at the 19th fence (the grey one in the middle!)

well the jockey did, the horse kept a running...

you can understand why many people are against these races...
