So you liked my random picture post yesterday hey...
i finally took my camera when i went out yesterday and as it was such a lovely day i felt i had to try capture some of the beauty to be found in what sometimes feels like a concrete jungle...
spent most of saturday out and about...
firstly headed out to check out the farmers market, just down the road from me, that i seem to have a habit of missing or sleeping through!..
it was cool, it wasnt huge by any means just a cute quaint little market selling all sorts of homemade goodies, pickled olives, jams, bread, pastries, scottish whisky... and the best bit was being able to sample all sorts of things too...
got cornered by one stranger there, who was out to show his disgust about the possibility of a giant tesco (supermarket chain) being built behind the other supermarket... ans anyways was organising for a huge massage world record attempt to be held on sunday on the proposed site...
so i said i'd turn up!
left there and headed back along the road and up Byres road to where the craft market was being held... was a littley early and they weren't set up yet so i continued on... found a post office and got some pounds changed into euros! (love how you get more for your money....) for wednesday...
and then found myself in the botanical gardens...
as you can see from the pictures yesterday to look at them you really wouldn't think they were taken just metres from 3 main roads...
it's like this amazing little sanctury just awaiting anyone who wants to step inside the gates...
and on a day like that with the sun blaring down, and blue sky for miles i could have honestly been back home...
it was lovely sitting on one of the many benchs and just revaling in the sunshine, and feeling totally content....
that was until these three what looked to be 13 year olds... came along pissed as parrots! to disturb the silence!
headed back along the road, and the market still wasn't set up so i gave up on that idea and headed into town...
i love how the city center turns into this sea of people, with street performers every 10 meters along the street on a clear day...
there were fully kilted up guys playing traditional scottish songs on the bagpipes, a guy tightrope walking between two light poles while playing beethoven, and the list was endless...
it's amazing what a little sushine will do for the atmosphere of the place...
(maybe cause it's not often sunny!)
ended up going to see Meet the Robinsons... oh how i love kiddie movies! but was excited to find the shrek3 is almost about to come out, and pirates of the carribean 3 (bring on jonny deep, and orlando... mmmmmm) and not to mention Harry potter... cant wait..
before walking back towards the flat...
it was great to be out and about soaking up the sunshine...
but have decided i'm now looking anaemicly pale... like a typical uk resident that doesn't get to experience sun much...
almost bought myself a skirt too... thinking i might have to, atleast then i might feel like it's almost summery...
got back to the flat and helped C finish off her packing, before getting stuck into reading my book...
Just finished The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
it was a bitter-sweet novel about two boys who grew up in Afghanistan about the time of the
Soviet invasion.. if anyones looking for a book to read... i recommend it..
and i'm now on to the latest book by Jodi Picoult... nineteen minutes... another author i love to read... she just puts so much effort into her research for each book, and she tackles some pretty strong emotions... like this new one.... is based upon a boy who goes to school and shoots all of the people that had bullied him through his whole life.... and has definitnely opened a can of worms in my mind...
Sunday dawned and we said goodbye to C... she's on her way to South America, where she's going to be exploring for the next month... i was kind of jealous that she was escaping! but i can esape too on wednesday afternoon! yay!
miserable weather today... it's totally the opposite to yesterday, it's windy miserable and cold!
so i've spent much of the day totally engrossed in my book!
but the sun came out in time for this gathering down the road, so i headed out to check out the world record attempt of a mass massage....
it was hilarious... totally unorganised, and people running around like chickens with their heads cut off... but hey i got a free neck massage... although not the most relaxing one i've had...
it was like one of those huge massage snakes that you used to do at school... where everone was giving the person in front a massage! hahahah
funny
don't think they managed to get enough people to get the record, but there were a few thousand there, and lots of reporters... maybe i'll make it in the paper!
but it provided me with entertainment for the afternoon...
just a week to go and i get to have the flat to myself...
i'm so looking forward to it...
i haven't had completely my own space since i've been over here in the uk! so it's going to be awesome!
bet i get lonely!
ha who am i kidding.... i'm going to love it...
