lack of sleep the night before had me sleeping most of the way on the train (then ferry) but i did take the occasional picture..

with a heavey heart we boarded the ferry with one last longing look at the shores of the south island, it was time to say goodbye... hard to belive we're already half way through our adventure.
An rather lazy start to the day had us leaving the hostel at 12pm!
headed across the road to the TePapa museum, which gave us some insight into New Zealands culture and history, and had heaps of interactive displays (obviously for the children... but fun for the inner child too)
they had this whole xray section with just sealife skeletons hanging about... i loved it...
and giant turtle skeletons... i couldn't get a good picture through the glass, but they are one strange creature under that shell i tell you!
wandered about in the windy... they don't call it windy wellinton for nothing... at times i though i'd blow away...
Found a movenpick iceceam store and had these amazing desserts... mmmm drool and they were really reasonable too.
Caught up with Charmaine for drinks and dinner and had a good time catching up, it was fantastic to meet after chatting online for so long... shame it was over weekdays and we couldn't catch up more..
i did however managed to snort my pasta sauce in a fit of laughter (cant take me any where i tell you!) and smelt garlic for days!

The next day i set out on a Lord of the rings tour, i wanted to do just the half day tour however it was booked up, so they gave me a huge discount (ie i paid $10 extra) and got on the full day tour...
i went with Wellington Rover, over all it was good, the half day tour would have been way better though...
and many of the sights have been turned back into their original state before filming, so you have to use your imagination more often than not.

Now you cant go on a tour and not don the appropriate attire! lolme trying to be legolas! (no where near as attractive of course...)
And lets not forget Gandulf....
It was a fun day, it would have been nicer to have had a friend who would have been as mad as me, but it was still amusing... it was good as the guides had the actual stills from the movie, so you could point out particular trees etc..
they're starting filming the hobbit in NZ soon too... maybe i need to head back!

I'm a bit bummed that it's not all still set up haha, it will probably be years before I make it over that way. I'll have to use my imagination, maybe take our own outfits! :D
it was great to meet up with you! I wish that you were in wellington for longer!
