Onwards

Well i'm sitting here in my new room in Cornwall, i've semi unpacked... really does feel surreal to be "at home" again in such a short amount of time.. this morning i was still packing and in Northern Ireland, now i'm unpacked and in Cornwall.. it's crazy to just pick up and move countries in a day..

my room is so toasty and warm at 4 degrees... seems the window latch is broken so there's a steady stream of cool air gushing in from the cracks... i shouldn't have left my thermals in London.. and there seems to only be a sheet on the bed, again why did i leave my sleeping bag in London... i feel it's going to be a cold night, that or i'm just going to have to put on all the clothes i have in my pack...
it's pokey as expected and apart from the coldness, seems as if it'll do the job

what is it with the brits and firealarms above stoves... seems the firealarm going off here is a common thing too... no wonder when you see where it's situated.. however there seems to be life in the kitchen, there are actual pots and pans, and plates... yay

the taxi driver on the way from the airport was telling me that they've forcasted snow in the next few days... so fingers crossed it'll happen...

had an adventure of a flight over, you know when you look at a plane and think mmmm glad i'm not going up in that one... well today i went up in one like that...
it was with a company i've never heard of but was the only company with flights from ireland to cornwall in the pre summer months...
nothing like looking out the planes window and being able to see the wheels and propellers... there was a grand total of 12 people on our flight too...
and sitting on the ground and feeling the plane be bashed from side to side by the wind, and we hadn't even taken off yet...

needless to say it was a bumpy ride the whole way over, i was glad to touch down, though watching the wheels hit the tarmac was interesting as we slid sideways and what not...

First impression of Cornwall, is that it looks like a wonderful place to get out and walk around exploring, whit fantastic cliffs and walkways all over, i can see myself out and about in the great outdoors over the next few week... weather permitting.. cant wait, i've never been this far south before so it's all an adventure..and it's so scenic too my favourite.

the Hospital itself is an older style building with various wards going in all directions as they've been hastily added, i think i found where i'm meant to be working when i had a quick wander around... well you know when i got lost trying to find the switchboard to pick up my keys!
managed to get locked out of the building already, but in the process met a whole heap of medical students living below me who seem nice...

seems there's not much of a night life to be had where i am, we need to go further a field it would seem but you get that in the sticks.

The last week in Belfast seemed to fly on by...

i never actually told the boss i was leaving i never saw him, but i told the others i was working with... i feel guilty, but you cant tell someone that's not there something like that..
i wonder if they'd hire me back if i wanted to go back... mmmm i did let the agency know in advance...

i had such a fantastic time with everyone all week too, it was sad to leave, a new locum started from SA who'd been there last year, and she was hilarious, not to mention i was finally free'd from the clutches of suzanne and was left on my own to play for most of the week, and got a students to play with too..

Friday was bizarre... 4 staff members were sent home for not registering with the HPC to work...
(anyone working as a healthcare proffesional has to be registered with the HPC in order to be insured against all things legal, and this was up at the end of feb) and get to come back on monday as long as they don't touch patients, take xrays or be on their own at all... so that'll leave them literally nothing to do... mmm

which left us with 3 staff members in the whole department oops... but kind of funny but crazy busy.. i managed to xray 120 people in 7hrs... i was impressed...

looking forward to the somewhat relaxed pace of the south this week... cant be anywere near as busy as Belfast was.

Cornwall sounds good. I really want to go there- even though I lived so close, I never went down :( Mum wants to go too, so maybe when she visits (whenever that may be!).

I can't believe you didn't tell your boss you were leaving! I guess you can't tell him if he's not there though. I only have 7 weeks until I hand in my notice, I think.
