Camera Obscura and World of Illusions

When i went on the free walking tour a few weeks ago the guide reccommended that if you were to do anything in edinburgh it was to go to the Camera Obscura and World of Illusions which i totally forgot about until one of the girls at work was talking about it, having been recently..

so i decided to head up there this morning, and what fun had... i'm such a nerd! i love science and all things related... so this was really cool

it was a five story collection of all sorts from holigrams, to electricity, to optical illusions.. i love all the interative things... and a giant pin hole camera right at the top..

so since i had a great time re-watching all my zoo videos i though i'd capture some moments on video here too...

first we got a presentation including the pinhole camera, which is really cool, you could point it anywhere in edinburgh, and pick up people in your hands, and shake them... hahaha very cool... that lasted about 20mins, and we got to wander round the rest of the floors..

The first floor was the optical illusion floor, full of giant magic eye pictures, funny mirrors and the like!

I look like i'm conducting an orchestra or something!

i had way too much fun with the mirrors!

my favourite was this one (below), that was a huge picture on the floor.

but the cool thing was you could touch it, and it was like you were touching water. it made rippes in the picture... and the fish would swim away if you tried to catch them

This next one, you need to watch the mirrors in the middle... it was just cute...

i love these electricity ones... this one har mirrors all around it so it was spooky and green!

This was one of those cool lightning ones... that actually zapped you!

And this one scared me the first time i did it... you got a small electric shock when it changed...

Went down stairs to the next exhibiton... holograms and lasers... there were some awesome ones...

the three colours that make up white..

it's not quite the same when you video it...though... but you get the idea

This one is a gold miner panning for gold... (he's sideways)

This next one was endless stars, and the longer you stayed in there the more and more stars you ould see...

me in the stars!

old woman or young women?

US

Lots of me...

I also ended up at the National Museum where this robot was kind enough to spell out my name!

Hi Ali,

Now that does look like a cool place!!

I was just wondering though how you chose that walking tour over others?

Where else did it take you? Just that I'm trying to help get a site off the ground that offers downloadable audio tours of Edinburgh and want to make sure they've got all the places covered that they should!

I hope you don't mind me asking.
