thank god its friday!

the last half of this week has just been manic...

work wise it's got to have been a full moon this week, so many insane people and just random crazies, it's had us on our toes all week....

i had my first ever bolter on thursday morning... first patient of the day, and he was laying on scaner table... ( for those not in the know, a ct scanner is a CAT scanner, it pretty much scans your whole body in thin slices giving 1000 times more information than a normal xray.. it's like a big polomint/lifesaver, or donut shape, and the table goes in and out through the whole in the middle...)
many people feel claustrophobic in there, but generally after they realise that you come out the other side are ok...
anyways this gentleman was fine, got him on the table and brought it up to the right heigt... then started to move it into the scanner itself , and he jumps off screaming... wanders around the room chanting i cant i cant i cant i cant...
in the end i tried it another way... feet first thinking it might be better if we kept his head completely out...
i was about 5cms short of where i wanted to be when he almost backflips off the table screetching like banshee and flies out the door and down the corridor with us trailing after him...
fun times!
totally scared all the patients in the waiting area....
eventually found him a good 15mins later outside of A&E!

best reaction i've ever had to a CT!

and the patients kept on coming...

a lady with leaking legs...

patients with dementia, and very confused... they are very strong... almost lost an arm nd an eye with one swing!

lol not to mention that on wednesday afternoon i managed to break the CT machine... though we didn't find out until thursday just how much it was going to cost to fix....

wait for it...

60 000 pounds.... or $150 000 aus... not a bad effort for a days work!

needless to say the last two days have been crazy, trying to do all the work that we normally have 2 scanners for on the old slow scanner that we only do the simple things cause it takes so long to work!

at one stage yesterday we had 16 people in the department all waiting for scans... and each one takes about 10mins min.... people weren't impressed but in the end i made them joke around with each other, and the started cheering when ever we went out to get someone!!! haha very amusing...
and surprisingly the day past rather quickly

but yeah it had to be me that had to be using it when it decided to blow...

and we had an a scare today too when the one we were on, had a meltdown cause it was being worked so hard... we got 50 patients... all with complicated scans done... lol

so we had to shut it down and restart it all, first time all day that we had 5mins to relax... but i love the stressful enviromnet i thrive on it... thankfully the boss was in there today and not T that itself would have been torture.

I'm thinking of taking the preston job, they called me today and said they'd have a definite decision on monday if they want me back or not...

it would be nice to head somewhere else in the uk, but at the same time it'd be nice to go back to somwhere where you're known, and you know how it goes..

still in two minds... but if they offer it to me i think i'm going to say yes..

Got to meet the lovely Gillian and Shauna last night....

nothing like having people from the internet come to life...

cant wait to catch up again!

I don't think people who haven't been there really understand the whole meeting on the internet...

i know for one i'm continually mocked by people with them continually asking why would you want to meet someone from the internet. i just don't know how to explain how fantastic it can be... and it's always great to finally put a face to the name, and the comments!

one thing that's changed while i've been over here, is that meeting new people doesn't freak me out... it's a daily occurance to me...
though i've gotten into the bad habit of first impressions last... and at the moment am trying hard to get rid of that... like with T... instant hate.... and i only need to hear her voice and the day becomes horrible!....

though i'm more of an observer, than an in your face talker... though the more i get to know someone the louder and crazier i get... as many of you have experienced

hence i last about 3 weeks working places before i turn completely insane and make them wonder if they need someone after all!!!

very surprising that preston wants me back! lol

though if i go back i cant complain cause i'll have been my choice to hed back there! maybe i'll get a floor with a better shower!?! (of the rent i still have yet to pay.... mmmm maybe they won't let me back there, mmm would that be a bad thing!)

OK NZ people, or anyone with an opinion...

where do i want to start and finish my NZ adventure? should i fly into and out of the same place... or different places?
How long do i want to spend there?
are there any places i really need to visit?

what does your city have to offer!?! (ie is there anything to do/ see, how many days do you need there???

night

hey
I would say fly into and out of different places.
You will need atleast two weeks here if not three in NZ. and of course you need lots of time in wellington! it is the capital city so has lots and lots of offer and you get to meet me and Ang!
I would say you should go to Auckland and Chrischurch plus Taupo and travel around the south island.
