A day at the Zoo

So i have a little treat for you all..

As the heading says i treated myself to a day at Edinburgh Zoo. and since i've finally worked out how to get the video's to show up i thought i'd only be fair to let you experience some of the more memorable moments!

i love the zoo, i haven't been in years... the last time i went it was about year 10 at school and we took this random japanese exchange student to show her something of sydney so to taronga zoo we went... and i remember pointing out all the signs that were in japanese (generally the litter signs!)

But no matter what the language you can always appreciate the animals and their antics...

i have it easy living over here... they drive on the same side of the road, they speak the same language (well most do!) things generally are similar, but walking around at the zoo full of tourist laughing and admiring the same things... it was just nice!

Anyways

My first sight when i walked in the door were the Flamingos...

now having never seen one in my life before, i was mesmorised! (i kept going back to them all day!)

headed up past the crazy monkeys, who i could also sit and watch for hours, these were cheeky little bugger, with daddy swinging baby upside down while hanging upside down himself!

Then on to a polar bear... (he looked a little lonely though in there on his own)

then what do i find...

home amongst the gum trees.....

a random koala!

up into africa with the likes of zebras, nyala's, and lesser kudu's then lions and leopards!

then i found my favourite (you'll notice they're all my favourites!)

a pygmy Hippo... so cute and kidney like (trust me to think of it as a body part!)

i wanted to jump in the enclosure and hug it...but i refrained!

then it was time to head over to the penguin enclosure, where every afternoon they open the doors and if the penguins want to walk out, they can.... they were so very very very cute,

walking like penguins do (obviously!)

i couldn't help but squeal with delight at the sight...

then i headed down to see the other monkeys in the monkey house...

all so happy and playful!

i really want a monkey too

then back tracked to see the big cats, somehow i got distracted by the hippo again and missed them on my way past... surprise surprise...

so glad i went up there, they had this crazy badger, who honestly looked like it had been given something, it just kept running round in circles for the whole 15mins i was there! and was still running when i went past another 30mins later...

on something i tell you!

then my next find, this gorgeous red panda... with the fluffiest softest looking tail...

i want him too!

it was just a brilliant day!

I felt like a kid again, getting excited about silly animals..

i could have spent all day going from the panda, to the monkeys to the hippo's, and to the flamingos...
