The smell of feet, leaking roof, and no one

For some reason the roof above my favourite place to stand at work (ie next to the processor) seems to have sprung a leak... we're not just talking, a drop here and a drop there... it's like a tap that's been left on... during the day we had about 2L in our bucket.... and it's freezing cold

maybe the gods are trying to tell me to do some work for a change!
its not nice though drifting in thought somewhere far far away,
then drip,
back to reality.. and smelly feet

on the cold factor, the boys in charge of the air-conditioning are hilarious..
last week it was like a saunta in the department everyone was melting.
this week you can see yourself breathing, it's that cold...

it was actually colder inside than it is outside today... and when it's 6 degrees outside, it's mighty cold inside!!!!

i swear they must sit by their little CCTV cameras and laugh all day long... it's like out very own Truman show..

Though talking of cameras, we have our very own camera system set up with the camera out in the waiting area, and the TV in our control area... and i'll admitt to laughing at what patients get up to out there when they think no ones looking!

Take the doorbell for instance... it's set up for them to ring to let us know that they're there waiting...
some patients, come along and push it then take a seat... others stand there continually pushing it, others stalk up and down the corridor looking everywhere trying to find someone..
most of the time we cant hear it, we've got jack of it and what used to be the doorbell is now in pieces on the desk, occasionally with pieces missing so it CANT be put back together!

much of our time is spent making up random commentry for the various patients.. we do no work you see!

they're always so sweet and polite when you go out there...

supposedly it's not professional to tell a patient that an xray is going to hurt...

also one must not tell patients that they will glow in the dark after a chest xray. Especially ones paranoid of radiation.

why is that?

With nothing to do this morning... (it's school holidays over here as well, so a few of the Doctors have cancelled their clinics this week) all of the staff except me and flick were sent off on training, and to meetings...

not a good thing to leave the locum to her own devices... though poor flick got a needle stick injury from one of the patients (accident of course) but it definitely put a damper on the day.

ward patients on your own is hard at the best of times... add to the mixture, suffering from dementia, and likes to scream like a hyena, and you'll get an idea of one of my patients... thought that i was out to get him, and screamed the house down... only to sit there with a gummy smile after i was done... like it was some big joke!..
werid!

I got the Job in the Isle of Man so heading over there to start work the 19th May, so should be good, never been there, could be interesting being marooned on a desserted island, apart from all the bikes there for the Races..
injuries galore...

so means i have a little less than 2 weeks to play after turkey, and i'm seriously thinking of heading over the Vancouver to go on a road trip with 3 of the girls i met in scotland last year...
got to do a little research on airfares and how much money i actually have, and if i've been paid yet... but fingers crossed i win the lottery on the weekend so i can head off to the far and distant land of Canada..

I've also got so many people I know heading over this way in the coming months...
The Boss from one of the hospitals i worked at is over from the 28th May, then after he leaves one of the girls i work with is over for 3 months of solid traveling, so no doubt i'll be seeing a fair amount of her, a mate from uni is heading over with her husband as well to come live... so that'll be excellent...
it's fun times ahead!

Congrats on getting the job. I wish you could take photos of protruding bones etc and post them all up for us to see (Not xray ones which obviously you would do) Geez now i feel like a numpty.

I can't believe you guys do that to your poor patients.
